A TV STATION FROM THE ASHES, Timor-Leste 2002

The UN had a mandate to rebuild after the destruction of Timor Leste’s capital, following the 1999 vote for independence from Indonesia. The UN mission resurrected the local television station as an independent media source and called it Televizaun Timor Loros'ae (TVTL). During the busy period prior to official Independence and the first-ever democratic election, I worked at TVTL as a capacity-building television producer.

I developed a station identity and created promo spots using montage and motion graphics. Also produced were animations, public service announcements, presidential elections graphics and a Countdown To Independence promo. Local staff received training in digital editing and support.
