RACING TO STANDSTILL, Nepal 2007

After a decade of insurgency - which saw the ousting of the monarchy - Maoists guerillas and a coalition of political parties were brought together in a shaky democratic process. I worked with Nepalese designers to create the 241 ballot papers for this historic election, which caused a major shake-up of power structures in the kingdom. The Maoists surprised even themselves by taking the majority balance of power. The question now remains whether this is 'class struggle' or a 'caste struggle'?
